The Champ
Act: ACT 2
Description
The Champ is an Act II boss whose danger escalates as the fight progresses. It features two phases: before and after dropping below half health. Early on it uses debuffs, vulnerable/weak, and moderate damage; once enraged in Phase 2, hits become much more threatening. Beating The Champ requires you to survive early tempo swings and burst through its second phase before you’re overwhelmed.
HP: 420 / > maybe 440 (Ascension 9+)
Abilities
•
Deals 12 damage, applying 2 Frail and 2 Vulnerable.
•
Deals 14 damage (Ascension 4+), applying 2 Frail and 2 Vulnerable.
Tips
- Use the first half of the battle (Phase 1) to build up defense, buffs, and card draw; after you trigger Phase 2, its damage ramps up sharply.
- Try to avoid keeping it at just under 50% HP for too long—once Phase 2 triggers, its attacks (especially Execute) hit very hard.
- Debuffs like Weak and Vulnerable are valuable, especially on its heavy attacks, to reduce the damage spike it can produce.

Trivia
The Champ recognizes certain relics (like the Champion Belt) and has unique dialogue when players have them. Also, many players find it the most brutal of the Act II bosses because its damage scaling can outpace unprepared builds. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
